The civilian population that sadly I have to deal with on a day to day basis just do not understand why someone would work the countless hours I do to preserve a memory and provide a sense of needed honor . To understand this one needs to have been in combat through a military organization like I was in the BlackSheep. When one sees your fellow air buddy shot down int enem territory and understand the torture and pain that friend who you are now closer to than many of your own family goes through there is a severe desire to honor that person. More over seeing someone next to you, get killed and holding them beside you as they die or worse wounded with blood pouring out of an open vein then you get the asic image of why those whom you fly into hell with needs and should be honored and the tradition and all needs to not only be preserved but honored. Again that's why I do it, as well as the fact that knowing that what you did when doing your job defending our nation makes it possible for us to live in this country to enjoy the freedom we love and treasure then you get some idea of why I feel the need that the history of the BlackSheep and others needs to be remembered. The BlackSheep Vintage Aviation Association is more than just a bunch of friends rebuilding vintage warbyrds. We are also former as well as current military aviators doing our best to honor those we have flown with as well as fly with today. Our nations schools do not do justice to people like Pappy Boyington and others whose tactics and flying skills not only are still taught in Top Gun schools in our military but whom scored more air victories than many others in conflicts that our Marines fought. This is why I do what I do, why our towing service for instance is changing ts name from Dixie to BlackSheep Towing not to make money on that legend but to preserve and honor that legend. The fact that many do not know that the 214 still flies and that the squadron is not only one of the most decorated air combat squadrons in history but are more than just a Two year TV show, that aired in the late 1970's. I hope now some of you understand, and will contribute to our movie fund so that we can make a film that will tell the true story of The BlackSheep.
