This is about one of the last AyreTrax editions I will be writing for a few months. The flying season or weather will be overcast for some time over the next few months, so while the dark clouds hang over our heads here at the AyreShaq I'll be doing my thing for those in love with all things Hazzard County. Next the weekend into Monday was one of those days I'd just as soon have behind me. Course of this is that my son Eddy now lives with me. Seems from his mother my XYL that she is not only happy as she can be over the condition but extatic. But now besides riding herd over the Hazzard Knytes, the ConfederateVMF214 and all I now will ride herd over my son. Which is ironic in a way and while he is 20 still he operates at a grade 9 level and a mid 17 year olds mindset. Not completely by his doing by the skyway but the mental engineering of his mother. Seems as though his mother my XYL, really programmed his mind well. Not as well as could be but in the way she thought he should live. The problem with her is she operates on a level 13 mindset so what is a person more over a grown up daddy to do? Alrighty then. Social Networking. We have all been tuned into this from such web sites as MySpace, Facebook and others. Its called web 2.0 among other labels. However one must look beyond that into the past. Long before and I have seen some comparrison but in the early 1970's through mid 1980's we saw another part if not the founding of social networking take hold. At least by us good old boys and outlaw rednecks. That ellement of social networking was called the CB, Radio. That's right fellow ratchetjaws the good ole CB. Which is part of the ironic part of even my XYL if ya'll wanted to get down with it. If it were not for the good ole CB, my XYL would have never met and my son would have never been born. Funny how that happened ain't it? The CB allowed by somewhat a style of hiding in the shadows the ability of many to create a network of fellow gearheads, ong haul trucker types of communication network, that even today albeit limited but still very viable. With even the cell phone still leading the personal communications parade still the price of those little buggers as well as their limited bandwidth and all he good ole CB, is regaining some of the glittring images of its beginnings. And the CB after it was bought is free to use. I would neer go on a long haul anywhere if there was no CB in my little truck, or my warbyrd. That is just a required thing to have in my rigs. Now one might say, yea but I can call my friends for help on my cell phone, I say what about the condition of if your friends ain't home or by their phone, or preytell their minutes are used up and you need that friend to come to a part of the big road to fix a blown tire? Cell phone hen ain't helping, but good ole CB puts you on a party line of folks sitting beside their base stations ready to lend a hand. Have you ever saw a sign on the road saying CELL PHONE CLUB ahead Safety break stop? But all across the nation even today such groups as REACT, and the Hazzard County Knytes have these safety stops on all major holidays when many take to the roads, on vacation. Such as Memorial Day, the 4th of July etc. Most of our major cities still have along with many rural areas still have albeit fewer these days but still have selected dedicated people sitting beside a base station ready to help when a disaster strikes. After all there are times when the cb radio will work when cell phones wont. Now granted I can't see the entire nation returning to the networking of CB radio as it was years gone by but I can still see the benefits of life on that magic box called the CB. However I have heard that there is work undergoing that s going to making the CB even better , like digital CB. As I close his entry to my blog. I need to make this pefectly clear.
